The Jahangirnagar University (JU) correspondent of Bangla daily Manabzamin was allegedly assaulted by two JU unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists at Bottola on the campus on Saturday night.
Third-year marketing student Riazul Islam Dipu claimed that Vice-President Russel Meah Shadhin and Joint Secretary Mustafizur Rahman started an argument over the way he was sitting and threw him out around 10:00pm.
In presence of this correspondent, Shadhin again verbally abused Riazul at the same spot half an hour later. The duo denied having done so and JU unit BCL President Mahmudur Rahman Jony assured of “taking steps”.
Proctor Prof Muzibur Rahman, on receiving Riazul's written complaint, said he too would take punitive steps based on investigations.
