Ivy relieved of responsibilities as Mohila AL president
Ivy Rahman has been relieved of her responsibilities as president of Mohila Awami League, the women's front of the main opposition party, five months after she took over as an office-bearer of the party's central working committee.
AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil issued the order in this regard on Sunday, as the party's constitution does not permit anyone to hold two posts in the party simultaneously.
Ivy Rahman, who had been serving as Mohila AL president for the last 10 years, was elected party's women affairs secretary in its last council on December 26, 2002.
AL sources said it is a normal practice that one vacates his/her post whenever they assume another post in the party.
As Ivy did not do so, the party took the decision in line with the constitution so that no question is raised ahead of the Mohila AL council which is likely to be held in June, the sources added.
