Hasina goes to Dinajpur today
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to visit Dinajpur today.
During the visit, she will inaugurate 28 development projects and lay the foundation stones of eight others in the district.
In the afternoon, the prime minister will address a public meeting at Gor-e-Shahid Boromaidan in the town. This will be her first visit to the district after Awami League assumed power in January 2009.
The 28 development projects include 500-bed Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital, Wazed Ali Bhaban of Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University, rubber dam project on Atrai River in Sadar upazila and on Tangar River in Bochaganj upazila, upgrading of 31-bed health complexes to 50-bed ones in Birampur, Birganj, Biral and Hakimpur upazilas, new buildings of Dinajpur Government College and five other educational institutions, dual gauge rail lines, Dinajpur Press Club Bhaban, Dinajpur Muktijoddha Complex , fire station in Hakimpur upazila, a police investigation centre in Mangalpur village under Biral upazila, a newly built building of the fisheries department in Kaharol upazila and Abdur Rouf Auditorium in Bochaganj upazila.
The prime minister will lay the foundation stones of Dinajpur Education Board office, Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court building, Housing project for the people affected by land subsidence in Barapukuria, regional passport office, the extended structure of Dinajpur Stadium, fire station in Biral upazila, Hakimpur upazila Muktijoddha complex and a bridge in Birganj upazila.
Local lawmakers and Awami League leaders and workers are working tirelessly to make PM's public rally a success.
Though people of Chirirbandar upazila have been suffering a lot for want of a bridge on the Ichhamati River, no such project is left for inauguration or laying of foundation by the prime minister during her today's visit to the district.
