Four held over N'ganj college student murder

Four persons were arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of a college student in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.
The arrested are Tania, alleged girlfriend of the victim Nakibul Islam Alay, 17, her friend Hridoy, Sajjad alias Siam, and Laxman Karmaker. They were rounded up in overnight raids. A fifth accused, Palash, could not be arrested.
Alay, a twelfth grader of science group at Notre Dame College, went missing on Wednesday. His body was recovered two days later, Friday, from the Shitalakkhya river.
Officer-in-Charge of Shiddirganj Police Station Abdul Matin said the four were arrested following a case filed by the victim's father. In the case statement, Nazrul said his son was strangled after Tania and her friends took him out of the home.
OC Abdul Matin said no mark of injury was found on the victim's body. The reason of his death will be ascertained upon availability of the post mortem report, he added.
Police sent Alay's body to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy.
