Another CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver became the victim of mindless arson as blockaders set fire to his vehicle in Chandgaon area of Chittagong city this morning.
Fifty-year old Mohammad Khorshed Alam received 35 percent burn injuries, said Mishma Islam, a doctor of Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
As Alam is a diabetic patient, danger looms over him, said the doctor who serves at the burn unit of the hospital.
Alam, the father of five, came out of his house to earn money, as his saving finished during the BNP-led 18-party opposition combine-called countrywide blockade.
The blockaders set blaze to the auto-rickshaw of Khorshed when he just came out of his house in C&B area of the port city around 6:30am, reports our correspondent quoting Pankaj Barua, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the CMCH police camp.
The pro-blockade activists set the fire pouring petrol on the vehicle and fled away the scene, the ASI said.
Locals rescued Khorshed and whisked him off to the hospital.
