Bikroy launches online marketplace of Qurbani animals

Online marketplace Bikroy.com and electronics manufacturer Minister Hi-Tech Park Ltd yesterday jointly launched “BiratHaat” campaign, an online marketplace for sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated on August 22.

From a press conference, campaign organisers said people will be able to buy their desired animals free of hassle from Bikroy.com website or smartphone application through the "Pets & Animals" category.

Besides, anyone can participate in the campaign through sharing the advertisement links of their favourite cattle from the site on Facebook, with the hashtag #BiratHaat. The top 20 Facebook posts with the highest number of likes, comments and shares, will be awarded, they added.

The press conference was held at The Daily Star Centre in the capital. Last year, both Bikroy.com and Minister organised such campaign targeting the Eid for the first time.

Bikroy.com's Head of Marketing and Sales Eshita Sharmin said, “Many people don't have much time and do not want to face hassle of going to cattle markets to buy sacrificial animals. We launched the campaign to solve their problems.”

Asked about price and quality, Eshita told journalists that they have a quality assurance team who will monitor the price [mostly negotiable] and ensure that healthy cattle appear on the marketplace.

The buyers will be able to visit their desired cattle if they want. Besides, they can avail a home delivery facility through "Bikroy Deals", she added.
