BSF picks up Bangladeshi, BGB detains 2 Indians
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members picked up a Bangladeshi worker from near Molani border under Ranishankoil upazila early yesterday while he was returning home from India.
In separate incidents, BGB men detained two Indian cattle traders from Dharmagarh border on the same day at about 11:00am.
The Bangladeshi held by BSF was identified as Kazirul Islam, 25, son of Ibrahim of Moradhar village in the same upazila.
Commanding Officer of 30, BGB Battalion Lt. Colonel Kamal Ahmed told this correspondent over cell phone that a BSF patrol team of Kukradaha camp picked up Kazirul from a point near Molani border around 5:30am.
Kazirul went to India several months ago to work as day labourer, he said.
A patrol team of Dharmagarh BGB camp picked up two Indians from inside Bangladesh territory near Dharmagarh border in the morning.
The two were identified as Bimol Biswas, 28, son of Kanai Biswas and Prodip Boidyo, 18, son of Badal Boidyo of Dangipara village under Gowalpukur PS in Uttar Dinajpur district of Pashchimbanga.
CO Lt. Colonel Kamal Ahmed said the two Indians were held on charge of illegal intrusion and cattle smuggling.
Earlier BSF picked up a Bangladeshi national from near Beurjhari border in Baliadangi upazila on Sunday morning.
The detainee was identified as Sadequl Islam, 24, son of Mohammad Ali of Kadamtoli village in the upazila.
Lt. Colonel Kamal Ahmed told this correspondent over cell phone that a BSF patrol team of Barabillah BSF camp picked up the Bangladeshi citizen in Indian territory near Beurjhari border at about 6:00am while he was returning home with a few bottles of phensidyl.
Later, at the meeting, the BSF told BGB that the Bangladeshi was handed over to Goalpukur police station in Uttar Dinajpur on charge of intrusion and drug smuggling.
