UP chair suspended from AL
Mahmudul Alam Babu, chairman of Sadhurpara Union Parishad and general secretary of the union's Awami League in Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur, has been suspended from the party.
Babu, a suspect of the murder of Golam Rabbani Nadim, was suspended from the party around 12:00am today, reports our local correspondent.
Babu has been suspended from the party for violating party discipline, according to party sources.
Bakshiganj Upazila AL President Nur Shahina Begum told The Daily Star, "He has been asked to appear and give a written reply within seven days as to why he should not be expelled from the party," she added.
Chairman Babu went into hiding after the murder of Nadim.
Nadim died on Thursday, a day after he was attacked and injured allegedly by some supporters of a chairman Babu in Bakshiganj.
Nadim, 42, was the Jamalpur district correspondent of Banglanews24.com and Bakshiganj upazila correspondent of Ekattor TV.
