Ex-Air Force chief Sultan Mahmud laid to rest
Former chief of air staff Air Vice Marshal (retd) Sultan Mahmud was laid to rest with state and military honours at BAF Shaheen graveyard in Dhaka today.
The first namaz-e-janaza of Bir Uttam Mahmud was held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Zohr prayers. The second one was held at the parade ground of Air Force Base Bashar in Tejgaon at 3:00pm, said a press release.
At the last janaza, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan and Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Nazmul Hassan paid their respect to Mahmud by placing wreaths on the coffin.
Air Force conducted a flypast to show respect to him.
Mahmud, who led Bangladesh Air Force's Kilo Flight operation against the Pakistani force, passed away at a hospital in the capital on Monday night.
