Mohsin's death on Facebook live: HC asks to remove video from social media in 6 hours

The High Court today directed the authorities concerned of the government to remove the video of the "suicide" of Abu Mohsin Khan, businessman and father-in-law of film actor Riaz, from all social media including YouTube and Facebook within six hours.

The court also asked the authorities to submit a report to it after complying with the directive in three working days, Deputy Attorney General Samarendranath Biswas told The Daily Star.

The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice SM Maniruzaaman issued the order on a suo muto (voluntary) move following newspaper reports on the incident.

Supreme Court lawyer AKM Faiz placed the reports before the HC bench for necessary directives, saying that the video content can leave adverse impact on society if it continues to run on social media.

Police said the man died by suicide at his home in Dhaka's Dhanmondi around 9:45pm on Wednesday.
