Ijtema to be held as per schedule

The Biswa Ijtema, one of the largest congregations of Muslims in the world, will be held as per schedule from January 31 to February 2, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury said today.
"Formal preparations have begun to hold the completion of the Biswa Ijtema. The construction of toilets, watchtowers, pavilions and other necessary arrangements is already underway. We hope all the works will be completed within the stipulated time, and the Ijtema will be held as per schedule," he said.
Sharaf Uddin, also Gazipur City Corporation administrator, made the remarks while talking to reporters after he visited the Ijtema grounds this afternoon.
He also said public announcement will begin soon to demolish illegal structures on the Ijtema grounds," he added.
Earlier, Home Affairs' Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam announced that the first phase of Ijtema will be held from January 31 to February 2, 2025 and the second phase from February 7 to 9.
The adviser made the announcement after meetings with representatives of Tabligh Jamaat at the secretariat On November 4 last year.
