BGB seizes 112 gold bars worth Tk 16cr from Benapole, 2 held
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh yesterday arrested two people and seized 112 gold bars from their possession from Amrakhali border area in Benapole.
The arrestees are Omar Faruk, 27, and Farhad Hossain, 32, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting Lt Colonel Minhaz Ahmed Siddiki, commander of BGB-21 battalion.
BGB launched a drive following a tip-off that two men were smuggling the gold bars to India through the border, the official said.
The gold bars, weighing around 16.5kgs, is said to be worth Tk 16 crore, said the BGB official.
