Bangladesh will keep its mission in Sudan open
Despite the turmoil in the African country, Bangladesh will continue to have its mission in Sudan operational, considering the needs of some 1,500 Bangladeshis living there.
"We have our consulate in Sudan. We asked our mission to take precaution, but as we have many citizens, we will keep our mission there," Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told journalists during a media briefing at the ministry yesterday.
Depending on the situation, Dhaka will take a decision later, he said.
"We advised them to keep enough rations [food]...as long as we have our citizens there," he said.
Bangladeshi citizens were advised not to travel to Sudan.
As of April 21, at least 413 people have been killed and 3,551 wounded in the unrest there, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
