Baharul made new IGP, Sazzat DMP commissioner

The government today appointed retired deputy inspector general Baharul Alam as the inspector general of police (IGP) for two years on contract.
Besides, former additional inspector general of police Sk Md Sazzat Ali has been made the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commission for two years on contract.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued two separate circulars today on the new appointments, saying their terms will start from the date of their joining.
Baharul replaced IGP Mainul Islam and Sazzat replaced DMP Commissioner Mainul Hasan.
Both Mainul Islam and Mainul Hasan were appointed on August 7 following the fall of the Awami League government.
The appointments of new IGP and DMP commissioner are conditional upon their severing ties with any other professions, businesses, or work engagements, the notifications added.
"This order has been issued in public interest, and other terms of the appointment will be determined by the contract," both circulars read.

"We have made changes to these posts to improve the law and order," Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan told media at the Foreign Service Academy during a press briefing.
