'I'm here because my vote holds significance'
A 65-year-old woman from Nabinagar under Khulna City Corporation overcame her physical difficulties to cast her vote in today's city polls.
Pulton Nessa has had a disability in her left hand for the past few years, and also has trouble walking. She got invaluable support from her 78-year-old husband Samshul Islam to reach the polling centre at Khulna Collegiate School.
Talking to The Daily Star after casting her vote, she said, "Despite my physical limitations, I came here to vote, knowing that my vote holds significance. Every single vote can make a difference."
Around 10:00am, Pulton Nessa and her husband reached the polling centre. There are a total of 2,109 voters under the centre, and 126 of them had already cast their votes by then.
On her voting experience with the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), Pulton Nessa said, "Using the EVM was hassle-free. I have voted in previous city elections as well. It takes me only 7-8 minutes to complete the voting process."
Her husband expressed satisfaction over the congenial atmosphere and said, "We cast our votes efficiently, without any delays. We never miss the opportunity to vote. My wife is always enthusiastic about exercising her voting rights. Today, we came together in the morning, and managed to cast two votes."
