DU relaxes CGPA for its 7 affiliated colleges
Dhaka University authorities relaxed the CGPA criteria for the annual promotion of students of its seven affiliated colleges yesterday.
An official notice was issued, signed by DU Controller of Examinations Bahalul Hoque Choudhury, to the respective principals of the colleges.
The letter stated that the students in the second and third years of the colleges, who got a minimum CGPA of 2.00, have been promoted to third and fourth years, respectively.
According to DU's existing criteria, students of the arts and science faculties, of all academic years, must attain a minimum CGPA of 2.00 to be promoted to the next year.
However, in the social sciences and business faculties, freshers must achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.00, sophomores 2.25, and third-year students 2.50, in order to get promoted to the next year.
Since June this year, a group of students from the seven affiliated colleges have been demanding to relax the CGPA criteria for all faculties to at least 2.00 out of 4.00 to get a promotion to the next year.
