Two Japanese warships arrive in Ctg on goodwill visit
Two warships of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, JS Uraga and JS Awaji, arrived at Chittagong port today on a three-day goodwill visit.
When the two ships arrived at Chittagong port, the well-equipped band of the Bangladesh Navy welcomed the two ships, said a press release issued by Bangladesh Navy.
Later, Commander of Chittagong Naval Region Chief Staff Officer Captain Faiz welcomed the captains of the two ships, reports our Chattogram correspondent.
On this occasion, high-ranking officials of the Bangladesh Navy along with representatives of Japanese Embassy in Bangladesh were present.
During their stay in Bangladesh, a delegation including the captains of the two visiting ships and the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh will pay a courtesy call on Commander Chittagong Naval Region and Commander BN Fleet.
Besides, the officers and sailors of the two ships will visit the Bangladesh Naval Academy, School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics (SMWT) and Navy Maritime Museum located in Chittagong, and various historical sites in Chittagong.
Besides, Bangladesh Navy officials and sailors will inspect the two Japanese ships. A total of 188 members including officers under the leadership of Commander Matsunaga Akihito and Commander Taguchi Takuma are participating in this goodwill visit.
Earlier, Bangladesh Navy ship 'Pratyasha' welcomed the two visiting ships when they arrived in Bangladesh waters.
The officials expressed hope that the goodwill visit of the two ships will play an important role in strengthening the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Japan.
After the three-day goodwill visit, the two ships will leave Bangladesh on April 11.
