DNCC to send humanitarian aid to Turkey

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has decided to send humanitarian aid to Turkey.
The decision came at its board meeting held at Nagar Bhaban where all the councillors of DNCC approved the decision and assured to provide assistance even personally, says a press release of DNCC.
The DNCC mayor Md Atiqul Islam who chaired the meeting said, "Turkey, devastated by the earthquake, sought humanitarian support from Bangladesh. There is a shortage of food and medicine in the quake-hit area. Warm clothes are necessary due to the bitter cold in the areas. In this tough time, we want to remain beside Turkey by sending them humanitarian support."
The DNCC mayor also said they will send those assistance to the office of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.
Meanwhile, Turkey has asked Bangladesh for winter clothes, food, and medicines as part of the assistance. However, the country said it will not take any financial aid in cash.
Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan, gave this information in a press conference at his office on Thursday, the press release added.
