Woman’s body recovered from Dhaka’s Sabujbagh
Law enforcers last evening recovered the body of a woman from a flat in Dhaka's Sabujbagh.
Police suspected Laboni Akter Labu (30), wife of a constable who was four-month pregnant, died by suicide as the body was hanging from a ceiling fan.
But her family members alleged that constable Avijit Biswas used to torture her regilarly and she was murdered.
Sheikh Aminul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Sabujbagh Police Station said the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Constable Avijit used to live in the Madartek house with his wife from where the body was recovered, said the inspector.
"We are suspecting she killed herself due to a family problem. However autopsy will determine the actual cause of her death," he said.
Deceased's cousin Nur Hossain alleged that the couple from different religions got acquainted on Facebook and got married at a court.
He alleged that Avijit used to torture Laboni over trivial matters and had been threatening her to abort the unborn.
"She cannot commit suicide. We want justice," said Nur.
