RMG worker stabbed to death

A 19-year-old RMG worker was stabbed to death by unknown assailants while returning home from work in Gazipur on Tuesday night.

The deceased, Saikat, from Haorakhali village in Sariakandi upazila of Bogura, was a quality inspector at MHEC Apparel Factory, said Sreepur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Joynal Abedin Mondal.

The incident occurred around 10:00pm near CRC Textiles at Bhangnahati village.

Saikat had been living in Sreepur for the past three months for work, said his uncle Shahadat Hossain.

Concern grew when Saikat did not return home at usual time. Later, they discovered his body in front of the factory, with knife wounds on his neck, throat, and stomach.

Saikat was taken to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Sayeeda Imroz Ima, a doctor at the emergency department, said Saikat had succumbed to injuries caused by a sharp weapon.

OC Mondal said he had previous enmity with one Mahmud Aminur, 20, who was arrested later.

The body was sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
