Rapid Action Battalion has arrested a convict in a rape case, who had been on the run for 17 years.

Arrestee Md Masum (48) was sentenced to life term imprisonment in the rape case filed with Kotalipara Police Station in Gopalganj in 2002.

A team of Rab arrested him from Dhaka's Sayedabad area yesterday, said Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed, commanding officer of Rab-3.

He was sentenced to life in prison by a Gopalganj court in 2006 and since then he remained fugitive, the Rab official said.
