One more container of alcohol seized at Ctg port
After the seizure of two containers of alcohol that were released from Chattogram port, one more such container was seized from inside the port today (July 24, 2022).
Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Saiful Haque, said the counting of the bottles is ongoing.
The container has been issued by a company of Uttara EPZ. Zafar Ahmed, a clearing and forwarding (C&F) agent, was responsible for unloading the goods from the port on behalf of the importers as per the documents, our staff correspondent reports.
Zafar was also responsible for clearing the goods for the two containers of alcohol seized from Narayanganj yesterday (July 23, 2022).
The container was also declared as garment yarn and used forged documents like the previous two invoices.
Director General of Directorate of Customs Intelligence, Mubara Khanam, said the same group is involved with the two incidents.
Customs and law enforcement agencies yesterday seized a huge amount of liquor, imported on the false declaration of being machines and yarn, from inside two container trucks at Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila.
