Murder of Gazipur City Corporation engineer: Family rejects probe report
The family of Delwar Hossain, the then executive engineer of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC), rejected a probe report submitted by Turag police in a case filed over his murder in May 2020.
Victim's wife Khodeja Akhter today filed an application with a Dhaka court, seeking further investigation into the case.
In the application, Khodeja said the investigation officer probed the case and submitted a charge sheet on May 3 last year against three people, including one of her husband's colleagues after being failed to find out the masterminds behind the killing.
She also said the IO did not probe the case properly. If the court orders for further investigation, names of masterminds will be disclosed, the complainant added.
Judge (in-charge) Bilkis Akhter of Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka fixed October 30 for hearing on the issue.
The three charge-sheeted accused in the case are Mohammad Selim alias Anis Howlader, an assistant engineer of the city corporation, and his two accomplices -- Helal Howlader and Habibur Rahman Khan.
Of them, Selim secured ad-interim bail from the High Court on June 29 this year.
Delwar Hossain (45) was killed on May 11 of 2020 following a disagreement with his colleague Mohammad Selim over the latter's illegal activities, the probe had found.
Khodeja filed the murder case with Turag Police Station that day, accusing some unidentified people.
According to the probe report, Selim alias Anis Howlader used to take illegal benefits from different contractors, but Delwar opposed such illegal activities.
During the investigation, Selim made a confessional statement before a magistrate where he described why and how he along with his accomplices killed the victim.
