Miscreants dismembers wrist of Jubo League leader in Dhaka’s Gopibag
Miscreants last night severed the left wrist of a local Jubo League leader in Dhaka's Gopibag.
The victim, Alamgir Hossain (48), is the senior vice-president of Ward-39 Jubo League.
The incident happened at Gopibag Bazar area at around 8pm. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Victim Alamgir Hossain said he was walking to Pachani Pukur Jame Mosjid by foot to offer Esha prayers.
On the way, two youths swooped on him, cut off his left wrist with a sharp weapon and left the scene, he said.
On information, his nephew Md Habib rushed to the spot and took him to the hospital.
There are stab marks on his right leg also, said Habib, adding that his uncle could not identify the criminals.
Alamgir's brother-in-law Md Razon said Alamgir used to control Wari Bazar for a long time. Recently Italy expatriate Nasir Uddin took control of the bazar.
He blamed Nasir for the attack. He said there was CCTV camera near the spot. "The criminals will be identified if police check CCTV footages, adjacent to the spot," he added.
Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, in-charge of DMCH police outpost said Alamgir is being treated at the emergency department of DMCH.
His condition is critical, he said.
