Pori Moni detained after Rab finds liquor, narcotics during raid
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have detained film actress Pori Moni following a raid at her residence in Dhaka's Banani this evening.
She was detained around 8:10pm from her residence and then taken to Rab headquarters, reports our staff correspondent from the spot.
Huge quantities of narcotics and alcohol including Ice, LSD and foreign liquor were recovered from her house during the drive, Lt Col Khairul Islam, director of Rab's intelligence wing said.
The narcotics and liquor were kept inside a showcase, cabinet and side-table inside her house, added Lt Col Khairul Islam.
Earlier, Khandaker Al Moin, Rab's legal and media wing director, said they were conducting the raid based on specific allegations.
Before law enforcers entered her house, Pori Moni went live on Facebook saying that a group of people entered her building and were knocking on her door.
Pori Moni came into discussion after she filed a case against five persons, including Nasir U Mahmud, former president of Uttara Club Limited, with Savar Police Station over attempted rape and murder at Dhaka Boat Club on June 9.
Two accused in the case -- Nasir and Tuhin Siddiqui Omi -- were arrested along with three others from a house in Uttara on June 14.
However, Nasir and Omi were later granted bail.
