Khaleda Zia's adviser Prof Tajmeri Islam sent to jail in 2018 case
Prof Dr Tajmeri S Islam, advisor of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, was sent to jail yesterday in a case filed over obstructing police from performing duties.
The Dhaka court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Arafatul Rakib rejected her bail plea and passed the order after she was produced in the court, her lawyer Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukdar confirmed to The Daily Star.
The case was filed at Uttara (West) Police Station on September 23, 2018 accusing 134 people..
HC granted Tajmeri bail on October 18 the same year in the case till submission of police report.
Police on March 4, 2020 submitted charge sheet against 75 people.
After accepting the charge sheet, the Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against her on May 7, 2020, Tajmeri's lawyer added.
Professor Tajmeri Islam is a former teacher at Dhaka University and the convener of White Panel, a BNP-backed teachers' association of Dhaka University.
