Huge haul of drugs at Banani flat
Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) conducted a drive at a flat in Dhaka's Banani area today (September 4, 2022) and seized various types of synthetic drugs including three unidentified ones.
Md Mehedi Hasan, assistant director (AD) of DNC, confirmed the matter to The Daily Star and said one person has been arrested in this connection.
The haul of narcotics found in his apartment includes around 40 packets of synthetic marijuana (10g each), popularly known as Kush, 29 blotting papers of LSD, around 30g of cocaine, and at least around 400g ecstasy.
Other than that, 20 bottles of foreign liquor were also recovered. The drugs were brought in from different countries.
Kush was smuggled from the US, cocaine from Barcelona, LSD and ecstasy from Amsterdam, Netherlands, while cannabis-infused chocolates were sourced locally, according to DNC officials.
Along with the listed drugs, three types of new drugs were also recovered from the flat. "We never saw or found this kind of substances in Bangladesh before," the DNC AD said.
Mehedi said that they would send these drugs to the lab for forensic analysis tomorrow (September 5, 2022).
"Once the report comes, we may able to say clearly what type of drugs they actually are," he added.
The arrestee claimed that the drugs were brought home for partying with friends and not for selling them, Mehedi Hasan said adding that DNC was verifying the claims.
A filing of a case was underway in this regard.
