Graft case: HC denies bail to UP chairman Selim Khan
The High Court on Sunday refused to grant bail to Chandpur's much-talked about union parishad chairman and expelled Awami League leader Md Selim Khan in a corruption case filed on charge of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 34.53 core.
The HC also ordered Selim Khan, chairman of Laxmipur Model Union Parishad in Chandpur, to surrender to the lower court in three weeks.
The bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Salim passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Selim seeking anticipatory bail in the case. Earlier, Selim appeared before the HC for bail.
Lawyers Md Tamiz Uddin and Khorshed Alam appeared for Selim while lawyer Fowjia Akhter Popy argued for the ACC during hearing. The ACC filed the case against Selim over his alleged involvement in amassing illegal wealth and concealing information.
