False case against woman: Narcotics control dept ordered to sue its official
A Dhaka court today directed Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) to file a criminal case against one of its officials for framing a woman in a yaba recovery case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain issued the order asking Ahsanur Rahman, an additional director of DNC, also the investigation officer of the yaba recovery case, to file a case within seven days against Sheikh Md Sajjad Hossain.
Sajjad Hossain, an official of DNC, framed Swapna Akhter, a resident of Dhaka's Khilkhet area, in a false case, the court said.
The magistrate relieved Swapna Akhter from the charges following a probe report submitted by IO Ahsanur Rahman in this regard.
The magistrate also asked DNC to inform the court after filling the case against Sajjad Hossain. Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will investigate the case, ordered the magistrate.
The prosecution had alleged that Sajjad Hossain along with seven others went to the house of Swapna's Khilkhet residence on February 16 last year and seized 1,000 yaba tablets from there.
Following the seizure, Sajjad filed a case against Swapna with Khilkhet Police Station in this regard.
Ahsanur Rahman was assigned to investigate the matter. Ahsanur interrogated all the witnesses who told him that they knew nothing about the matter.
The IO also found that the incident of recovery of yaba tablets was fabricated and it was just to frame Swapna Akhter with an intent to harass her.
In line with the incident, he submitted a probe report before the court appealing to relieve Swapna from the charges of the case.
The IO also appealed to the court to take an action against the complainant for framing Swapna in a false case.
