BGB seizes 17 gold bars worth Tk 1.5cr from Jashore
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh today seized 17 gold bars weighing 1.98kg from Sharsha upazila in Jashore today.
BGB conducted drive after being tipped off that gold was being smuggled to India from Pachvulot border of Sharsha, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Lt Col Tanvir Ahmed, commanding officer of BGB-21 battalion.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, two smugglers riding on a motorcycle fled the scene leaving behind two bags and the BGB team recovered the gold bars worth around Tk 1.5 crore from the bags, said Tanvir Ahmed.
A case has been filed with Sharsha Police Station in this regard, Tanvir added.
