Activities of Rajarbagh Darbar Shareef's pir, associates similar to those of militants: CTTC
The Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has found that the activities and intentions of Rajarbagh Darbar Shareef's Pir, his companions, and disciples bear similarities to those of the banned militant outfits in the country.
After reviewing several issues of the publications "Daily Al Ihsan" and "Monthly Al Baiyinat" supervised by the Rajarbagh Darbar, and several other books published by them, as well as the investigation reports of the criminal cases filed against the disciples of the Darbar, the CTTC concluded that the leaders of Rajarbagh Darbar were "deliberately misinterpreting the holy Quran and Hadis in the name of Islam, to lead religion-fearing people astray and incite them towards killing and jihad in the name of Islam."
The CTTC said this in a probe report, submitted to the High Court, through Deputy Attorney General Bepul Bagmar in compliance with its earlier directive, during hearing a writ petition filed by eight victims of false cases which were earlier filed by Rajarbagh Darbar Shareef's pir and his companions.
After going through the report, the HC directed that the authorities, including the CTTC, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) can impose restrictions on Rajarbag Darbar Shareef Pir Dillur Rahman and his disciples -- from leaving the country due to the investigation against them.
The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman said the victims can file case against them if they (victims) feel necessary.
The court also asked DAG Bagmar to talk to law enforcement authorities to ensure security of writ petitioners' lawyer Mohammad Shishir Manir who received threats.
It fixed February 13 next year for submitting ACC's report before it and further hearing on the issue.
Following the petition, the HC on September 19 directed the CTTC Unit to find out if Pir Dillur Rahman had any connection with militancy and also ordered the ACC to inquire into the assets of Dillur and his disciples.
