500 grams of crystal meth seized in Dhaka, 10 detained
Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) detained 10 persons along with 500 grams of crystal meth and 5,000 pieces of yaba from Dhaka's Uttara and Bashundhara Residential Area yesterday.
The detainees are: Rubaiyat, Rohit Hossain, Masum Mannan, Aman Ullah, Mohaiminul Islam Evan, Musa Babar, Syeda Anika Zaman, Laila Afroz Priya, Tanjeem Ali Shah and Hasibul Islam.
The detainees include drug traders and addicts. Most of them are from affluent families, DNC Additional Director Fazlur Rahman told a press briefing at its Tejgaon office today.
The street value of the contraband items is around Tk 50 lakh, he said.
Crystal meth is a powerful drug that affects the central nervous system. It comes in the form of clear crystals or shiny blue-white rocks.
On Tuesday, detectives arrested nine alleged drug peddlers and seized 500 grams of crystal meth, also called "ice", from Dhaka's Mohammadpur and Jatrabari areas.
