Police arrested three people this morning on charge of raping a 14-year-old after picking her up from Agrabad and taking her to Sitakunda in Chattogram.
The arrestees are Md Mehedi Hasan Munna (19), a trucker's helper by profession, Md Sakib (21), a security guard by profession, and Md Hasan Tarek (40), according to police.
The incident occurred on September 5 but police came to know of them after the case was filed with Double Mooring Police Station yesterday.
Citing the case statement, Abul Kashem Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Double Mooring Police Station, said "The victim went to the port city's Agrabad area with her sister-in-law to visit a doctor and she lost her relative due to heavy pressure of pedestrians on the footpath."
"Munna found the victim in front of Agrabad C&F Tower and assured her of helping her find her residence," the OC said.
"Later he took the girl to a house in Sitakunda upazila's Kalu Shah shrine area. The victim was raped by the three there and was left on the spot," the OC said.
Police conducted a drive and arrested the three in connection with the case, said the OC.
