Three of a family among 7 killed in road accidents
At least seven people were killed in road accidents in two districts on Monday.
Four people -- including three of a family carrying a patient -- were killed as an ambulance and a bus collided head-on in Sirajganj on Monday evening, reports our Pabna correspondent.
The accident happened about 7:00pm on Dhaka-Bogura highway in Kalikapur Jora Bridge area, said OC Bodrul Kabir of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station.
Police caught the bus but its driver managed to flee.
Lalu Miah, 35, the ambulance driver, died on the spot and Md Moshiur Rahman, 40, Abdul Baten, 35, and Ranu Akter, 22, of the same family from Panchagarh succumbed to their injuries early yesterday at Sirajganj General Hospital, said police.
The lone survivor Mustafizur Rahman was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The ambulance carrying the patient was going to Dhaka from Bogura, said the OC.
In Jashore, a father and his 17-year-old son were among three people were killed as two motorcycles collided head-on in Keshabpur upazila on Monday night, reports our Benapole correspondent.
The deceased are Jahangir Jawaddar, 40, of Khulna's Dumuria upazila, his son Mostain Jawaddar, and Golam Mostafa, 22, of Jashore.
According to locals and fire service sources, Mostafa's motorbike collided head-on with Jahangir's bike on the Jashore-Chuknagar highway in Bujtala area while the father and son were returning home from Keshabpur.
"Both Jagangir and his son died on the spot. Critically injured, Mostafa died on his way to Keshabpur Upazila Health Complex," said Keshabpur Police Station OC Mofijur Rahman. The bodies were handed over to the families, he added.
