Four killed as truck hits easy bike in Rangpur

Four people were killed and four others injured after a truck hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw (easy bike) on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in Rangpur's Taraganj upazila on Saturday night.

The deceased are Momota Begum (32), Lovely Begum (35), Sathi Begum (30) and the driver who could not be identified immediately.

Taraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur Nabi Prodhan said an easy bike with six female and one male passengers were heading to Taraganj from Rangpur's Paglapir.

When the vehicle arrived at Ghanirampur village in Taraganj upazila, a speeding truck hit the easy bike from the opposite direction.

Locals rushed the injured to Taraganj Upazila Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Among the injured -- Taslima Begum (24), Abdul Majid (49), and Modina Akter (29) were undergoing treatment at RMCH, said police.
