DU student found dead on Hardinge Bridge
A Dhaka University student was found dead at the Hardinge Bridge on the Padma River at Paksey in Pabna today.
The victim might have been killed after getting hit with a bridge girder at midnight while travelling by a southern train, most probably Chitra Express, said Md Monjer Ali, officer-in-charge of Poradah Railway Police Station, reports our Pabna correspondent.
The deceased was Md Mahabub Ador (21) of Khaetlal in Joypurhat Sadar upazila. He was a student of the Marketing department of the 2019-2020 academic session at DU, said the OC.
Railway workers saw the body on the bridge in the morning and informed the railway police, said Monjer.
The body was sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Later, it was handed over to his family in the afternoon, he added.
It, however, was not clear why the student was travelling on the train, he added.
"We are investigating the incident," the OC also said.
