Police on Sunday picked up 58 leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, from a dormitory of Chittagong College in the port city.

The Shibir men were detained in connection with an attack that injured three police and a journalist earlier in the day, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

Abdullahel Baki, deputy commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan of Police (south), told The Daily Star that the law enforcers conducted a raid in the dormitory in the afternoon and picked up the Shibir men.

They were taken to Chakbazar Police Station to verify their identities, he added.
