2 killed as villagers clash in Brahmanbaria
At least two people were killed and 50 injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila on Friday.
Police said the clash which ensued at 10:30am over establishing supremacy in the area was going on when the report was filed at 4:30pm.
Zahidul Islam, additional superintendent of police in Brahmanbaria, told our Brahmanbaria correspondent he had heard that two people were killed in the clash between two groups of villagers at Sadekpur.
The deceased were identified as Md Ismail Hossain, 45, and Samsul Islam, 40, both residents of the village.
Thirteen of the injured were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
Of them, two -- Habib Mia and Monir Hossain -- were shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
On information, police rushed to the spot and fired several rounds of rubbers bullets and teargas shells to bring the situation under control.
The law enforcers also detained five people in connection with the violence from the scene.
