Boy's decomposed body recovered

Police recovered the decomposed body of a five-year-old boy, Mohammad Shaheen, from a wetland under a five-storey building in the capital's Maniknagar yesterday.
Shaheen went missing on May 31 and his father Mukul Mia, a lift mechanic, filed a general diary with Mugdha Police Station, said police.
But the motive of the murder could not be found, added police.
Seven food stores fined Tk 1.2 lakh

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institutions (BSTI) fined seven food joints Tk 1.2 lakh for selling products without BSTI license and formalin injected fruits yesterday.
Allah'r Daan food store, Desh-Bidesh, Nur Hossain's and Kalu Mia's fruit shops, in Elephant road and Hatirpool area, were each fined Tk 5,000 and Dhaka Food in New Market was fined Tk 10,000.
Meanwhile, Shapna Super Shop and London Sweets in Rampura were fined Tk 15,000 and Tk 75,000 each.
Italian embassy in Dhaka celebrates its national day

The Italian embassy in Dhaka on Monday hosted a reception on the occasion of its National Day.
Ambassador of Italy to Bangladesh Giorgio Guglielmino greeted the guests on the day at the embassy in Gulshan.
Ministers, MPs, diplomatic missions' heads and their representatives, high civil and military officials, journalists, educationists, noted artists and elites of the city attended the programme.
Man's beheaded body found in Ctg

Police recovered the beheaded body of an oil trader from the sea coast in Pahartali area of Chittagong city yesterday.
Saiful islam, 32, a resident of Halishahar area, hailed from Patiya upazila. He owned an oil shop in the city's Agrabad area.
Police said miscreants might have slaughtered Saiful and dumped his body in the sea Monday night.
Tara's death condoled

Members of Padokkhep'64, an association of Dhaka University alumni of 1964, mourned the death of their friend and classmate Mahbubul Alam Tara, a former lawmaker of Feni-2 constituency, who died on Monday.
Recalling with gratitude Tara's contribution to the association, the members prayed for the salvation of his soul and hoped that his bereaved family will be able to bear the loss of his sudden demise.
