Concert on solar eclipse
The concert provided information relating to scientific studies and research on the solar eclipse.
Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner's office along with Bangladesh Astronomical Society organised a concert on Tuesday afternoon here at Panchagarh Stadium to generate awareness on the rare solar eclipse yesterday morning.
Thousands of people from across the country flocked to the venue to experience the total solar eclipse.
Artistes from Dhaka along with local musicians performed at the concert aimed at creating awareness on witnessing the solar eclipse. Around 50,000 people gathered at the Panchagarh stadium.
The concert provided information relating to scientific studies and research on the eclipse, atmospheric ionisation, geomagnetism, asteroids, behavioural changes in animals and birds and impact on the microorganisms before, during and after the eclipse.
Panchagarh District Administration officials made elaborate accommodations for research work to be carried out by visiting scientists and enthusiasts.
Earlier the National Science and Technology Museum and Bangladesh Astronomical Society ended their month long campaign against the superstitions and misconceptions regarding the eclipse, and seminars and special classes at schools, screening films and documentaries pertaining to the eclipse for awareness of the people.
At the seminar the information was given to the people about the marked abnormalities during the eclipse.
The concert ended at 3:30am on Wednesday.
