Road crashes kill seven
Seven people were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur and Kushtia yesterday.
UNB in Gazipur reports: Four people, including three of a family, were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup-van and a microbus at MC Bazar in Sripur upazila in Gazipur yesterday morning.
The deceased were identified as Miaruddin, 48, his wife Shamola Khatun, 40, and daughter Hasina Begum, 22, of Madhokhola village in the same upazila, and microbus driver Habibur Rahman, 30.
Police and witnesses said the Dhaka-bound pickup-van collided with the Mymensingh-bound microbus on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at about 5:30am as its driver lost control over the steering, injuring 10 microbus passengers critically.
The three injured family members were rushed to a local clinic where the attending doctors declared them dead.
Another injured, Habibur Rahman, died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Our correspondent in Kushtia adds: Three people were killed in a road accident at Nawdakhadimpur on Kushtia-Pabna highway yesterday.
The dead were identified as truck driver Sahid, helper Sahidul, 32, and manager of Testi Fish Company Huzur Ali, 42.
Police said the accident occurred when two trucks collided head-on at Nawdakhadimpur intersection at about 7.30am, leaving the helper and the manager dead on the spot and Sahid injured. He succumbed to his injuries at hospital.
