Invest in Bangladesh
President Zillur Rahman yesterday urged the investors of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to invest in Bangladesh as an investment-friendly atmosphere is prevailing in the country.
President made the call when the North Korean ambassador Sin Hong Chol paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
Zillur remembered that the DPRK was one of the earliest countries, which recognised Bangladesh and extended all-out support during the War of Liberation.
He stressed the need for strengthening economic and cultural relations between the two countries through increasing trade and commerce in line with investment in various sectors.
He said the DPRK could buy Bangladeshi products, particularly pharmaceuticals, ceramics, jute goods and readymade garments.
Mentioning the similar traditional and cultural heritage of the two countries Zillur said two countries have supported each other in the various international forums. “The interest of the two countries is similar as both of them are developing countries.”
Terming the existing bilateral relations excellent, he said it should be strengthened in future by giving support to the Non-Aligned Movement (Nam) and the United Nations-level meetings to ensure peace and tranquility in the region.
The president through the envoy conveyed his invitation to the North korean president and the supreme command of the country to visit Bangladesh at his convenience.
During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed the president his greetings for continuing the existing friendly relations between the two countries and hoped that they would continue their support to each other in the future.
