Depression over Bay
The depression over northwest Bay and adjoining area remained practically stationary over the same area yesterday afternoon.
It was centred about 570 km southwest off Chittagong port, 540 km southwest off Cox's Bazar port and 390 km southwest off Mongla port at 4:00pm.
"It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction," said a special bulletin of Met office.
Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over north Bay. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports and the coastal regions, the bulletin said.
The maximum sustained wind speed within 44 km of the depression centre is about 40 kilometres per hour, rising to 50 kmph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain moderate.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
All fishing-boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter until further notice.
