Case against nine including former Jamaat lawmaker

Satkhira Sadar Police Station on Monday night recorded the case that was earlier filed with the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court against nine alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces, including former Jamaat lawmaker Maulana Abdul Khaleque, for killing five innocent people in Sadar upazila in 1971.
Police recorded the case at around 8:25pm on receiving the documents from the court. Nazrul Islam of village Shimulbaria filed the petition case on July 2.
The other accused are Zahangir Hossain alias Tikka Khan of Baikari village, Saifullah Sardar, Korban ali and Abdul Karim of Shimulbaria village, Akkaj ali and Baker Ali of Balitha village, Shahidul Islam of Kaliani village and Zafar Ali of Fingri village in the upazila.
In the case statement, the complainant said the accused, led by the then rajakar commander Maulana Abdul Khaleque, picked up his father Rustam Ali, Babar Ali Gazi, Idris Ali, Montej gazi and Nurul Haque from Shimulbaria village on May 20, 1971. They then took the five to Ellarchar rajakar camp and killed them.
He further alleged that the accused also looted valuables from their house and set fire to it.
Judge AHM Samsul Arefin sent the petition to Sadar Police Station, asking the officer-in-charge (OC) to file a case against the accused.
