AG asked to inform SC of govt position
The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the attorney general (AG) to inform it, within two weeks, of the government's position in implementing the judicial service pay commission's recommendations to enhance salaries and other facilities of the judicial officials.
The seven-member full bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin, passed the order during the hearing on the Masdar Hossain Case, popularly known as judiciary separation case.
The apex court also adjourned hearing of the case for two weeks.

The Appellate Division held the hearing on the progress in executing the separation of judiciary from the executive yesterday.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam informed the court that the government has taken steps to allocate vehicles for the chief judicial magistrates.
Barrister M Amir-Ul Islam, an intervener of this case, told the court that the government is yet to implement the judicial service pay commissions' recommendations, although the apex court in its verdict had directed the government to make a separate pay structures for the judicial officials.
Sources said the judicial service pay commission last year recommended the government to give judicial allowances to judicial officials equal to their monthly basic salaries and to enhance other facilities.
