The workers and local people also beat up the constables of the Kayettuli outpost after they entered Purnima Bakery at Nawabkatara in the early hours of yesterday and tried to loot Tk 45,000 from the workers.
On receiving information, forces from Kotwali police station rushed to the spot and rescued the injured policemen, local people said.
Talking to The Daily Star, Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Salauddin said the constables entered the bakery without the approval of the higher authorities.
