10 injured, 25 vehicles ransacked in Bogra
Ten people were injured and about 25 vehicles owned by members of Bogra Transport Owners' Association were ransacked at Adamdighi in Bogra yesterday as cadres of Naogaon District Transport Owners Association allegedly swooped on the vehicles centring toll collection.
Aminul Islam of Bogra Transport Owners' Association filed a case with Adamdighi Police Station against 200 people, including President of Naogaon District Transport Owners Association Shahidul Islam and General Secretary Kabir, in this connection.
Sources said vehicles used to ply Bogra-Naogaon route on a regular basis. However, recently Naogaon District Transport Owners' Association launched an attempt to realise Tk 200 as toll from each bus that enters Naogaon from Bogra.
Refusing to pay the toll, the vehicles owned by Bogra Transport Owners' Association started plying up to Santahar, about three-kilometers from Naogaon.
This enraged the Naogaon District Transport Owners' Association since they could not realise the toll as Santahar is in Bogra.
About 200 people led by Shahidul Islam and Kabir took position at Adamdighi yesterday and swooped on the vehicles.
