32 more sued in 3 districts for war crimes
Thirty-two alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces have been sued for killing, arson and looting in Satkhira, Moulvibazar and Gopalganj in 1971.
In Satkhira, a petition case was filed with the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday, accusing nine collaborators, including former Jamaat lawmaker Maulana Abdul Khaleque, of killing five innocent people in Sadar upazila during the Liberation War, according to our correspondent.
The eight other accused are Saifullah Sardar, Korban Ali and Abdul Karim of Shimulbaria village, Akkaj Ali and Baker Ali of Balitha village, Shahidul Islam of Kaliani village, Zafar Ali of Fingri village and Zahirul alias Tikka Khan of Baikari village under the upazila.
The complainant, Nazrul Islam Gazi of Shimulbaria village, in his case statement said the accused picked up his father Rustam Ali, Idris Ali, Babar Ali, Nur Ali and Momtaz Mollah of the village on May 20, 1971, took them to Ellarchar area and shot them dead.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent adds: A case was filed with Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court here on Wednesday against 16 people for their alleged involvement in war crimes in Kamalganj area in 1971.
Mutaleb Miah of Barcheg village under Kamalganj upazila filed the case, accusing Anwar Khan, former chairman of Kamalganj Upazila Parishad, Advocate Misir Ullah of Syed Sikandar Ali Road in Moulvibazar town, Mannan Miah of Chandipur village under Kamalganj upazila and 13 unidentified people of killing innocent people and setting fire to their houses during the war.
Son of a martyred freedom fighter has filed a petition case with Gopalganj Judicial Magistrate's Court against seven 'rajakars' for killing his father during the Liberation War, reports a correspondent.
The plaintiff, Sultan Ahmed, in his case filed with the court on June 23 stated that rajakars Soloman Miah, Hares Sheikh, Chona Mia, Kheyal Uddin Mollah, Siddiqur Rahman and Moni Miah picked up his father Abdus Salam Miah at gunpoint from in front of Kashiani Ramdia Post Office, took him to Pak army camp in Gopalganj town and killed him.
Advocate Kazi Nazrul Islam, who stood for the petitioner, said the court took the case into cognisance and ordered Kashiani Police Station to take legal steps in this regard.
