Untold stories of the Liberation War
At the programmes, school students received free copies of the book.
The publication ceremony of “Shishu Joddha Nuru” -- a book on the Liberation War -- was held at a city community centre last Monday.
“Shishu Joddha Nuru” is the third book of a series of publications, a joint initiative by Centre for Bangladesh Liberation War Studies and Grameenphone Ltd. Students of classes IV to VIII will be provided with free copies of the book.
Professor M. Abdus Sobhan, vice chancellor, Rajshahi University, attended the ceremony as chief guest.
Shafquat Hossain, DGM, Corporate Social Responsibility, Grameenphone; Major Kamrul Hassan Bhuiyan (Retd), chairman of Researcher Centre, Bangladesh Liberation War Studies; freedom fighters Dr. M Shamsul Alam Bir Protik and Nur Hamim Rizvi were present among others.
The stories illustrated in the book are based on true events during the Liberation War. The series of publications aims to present untold stories of the war, especially face-to-face combats, to the youngsters.
A total of 21,000 copies of the book “Shishu Joddha Nuru” will be given among school students of Rajshahi division.
The remaining books of the series will be given among students in the other divisions of the country.
“Tagra,” the first book of the series published in October 2008, was distributed in Dhaka division while “Kishor Joddha Salam,” the second book published in March 2009, was distributed in Chittagong division.
