Tipaimukh emits an air of eerie feelings (June 11, 2009)
How can they be so eager in their effort to break laws of the international water related organisations, and most importantly the Ganges river treaty, even though environmental hazards are topping the disadvantage list? It is really a shameful act proving that India is and has never been good to any of its neighbours.

The nation which cannot be assertive in its legitimate demands cannot expect to be respected by others.
Zerosopher
I'm from Jessore and lived on the bank of Kopotakkho and after school I always went to swim there all round the year. The water was so clear that you could see a coin at the bottom! Now the river dies in winter and becomes crazy during the rainy season.
Not only the govt, but all our people together need to fight for our survival.
Bazlur
We should never be fooled again the way we were in the 1970s on the Farakka issue. This is the time to get united as Bangladeshis.
Alim Khan
As far as I know, though I don't read the Indian newspapers except The Hindu now and then, there has been little or no coverage of this issue. Maybe papers like The Hindu and Indian Express will pick up the issue.
Kavita
We should always remember Farakka.....that destroyed the Padma...anyone can look at the Padma and realize what Farakka did to our country. We should always consider that, it may affect our rivers like Farraka did to the Padma ...no matter what their technical experts say.
Sumon
India's attitude about the Tipaimukh dam is not surprising, because similar attitude has also been observed in case of Tinbigha Corridor, Ganges water sharing, etc. They always enter into bilateral agreements with their neighbours, but never honour them.
Fakhrul Alam
This is a serious issue and should be resolved through negotiations. Our government should immediately take up this issue with India and stop it from going ahead further with this dam.
I don't believe the Indian government will ignore Bangladesh's concerns if they are placed properly.

Ashraf comes down hard (June 20, 2009)
At this critical time of our cricket, we should rally behind Gazi Ashraf. I fully support his comments regarding the captain. How dare Mr. skipper complained about his bosses when his performance, intelligence, accountability and above all his patriotism and commitment to the people of Bangladesh is under question? He proves his immaturity again by defending his and his team's performance while rest of the country is in shock of their lousy play.
Monir Choudhury
As a cricket lover I feel the present skipper must resign because he is a disgrace to his team and country. A skipper must take responsibility, if he wins he takes credit if he looses he must go. Give other people a chance to deliver better.

Someone needs to stand up and speak the truth about the players and the staffs. BCB has a lot of money invested in it and it's painful to see everything going down the drain. Ever since Ashraful became the captain, our cricket went backward. And to make the matter worse Ashraful has the nerve to claim that our cricket has improved and so his batting.
Zubair Hasib
Despite a miserable show against the associate even, none, unlike Ashraful, can stay in the comfort zone! BCB pours buckets of money behind these fellows and they, seemingly, give a damn to our emotion and hardly try to elevate their skill by learning from previous mistakes.
Debashish
As a member of the BCB, Ashraf needs to understand that he has to be professional no matter on what context he gives his comments.
The board forced Ashraful into the captaincy and now he's the scapegoat. The whole team performed badly, so why single out only the captain.
Muktar
There are thousands of talented players in the world of cricket. At the end, everything brings down to performance. It's been so long that we are giving too much credit to Ashraful. In that case, he took the position of the game for granted.
If world greatest player of T20 like Andrew Symond can be sacked for not being a team player, what contribution Ashraful brings in order to keep him in the team.
Bangladesh players definitely need professional psychologist. Finally, the team definitely need a professional manager who can control them to be disciplined. Because, I have travelled around the world and seen the Bangladeshi team players are always in a party mood even though they have a game tomorrow.
